Les Arcs Diary - Week 12 Saturday 20th March
Friday 19th March
Thursday 18th March
Wednesday 17th March Another lazy day, I met Tom and Mel at the Mont Blanc at lunchtime and we go to 1800 to take in the Quicksilver Cup, finals day. We found a vantage point on the hillside surrounded by 300 or so Brits, including most of the guys from the Mont Blanc. When the competition is delayed, the crowd entertain themselves by pelting people passing overhead on the Vagere lift with snowballs. Monoskiers, bladers, people in 80s one piece ski suits and ESF instructors take the brunt of it as at least half the crowd join in! Tuesday 16th March I was woken by what sounded like a downpour but is in fact the sound of melting snow cascading off the roof. Can't be bothered to go to work today. Chris and I go to 1800 to take in the Quicksilver Cup, a freestyle competition with riders going off big jumps and down a huge half pipe. Monday 15th March The clouds have gone and it is back to clear blue skies. The snow is still slushy and I don't get out until afternon, when i go riding with Kieron, Tony, Bridie and Leighton from Blanc. We do the top of the run down from the Agille Rouge, and stop by the board park, with a little filming along the way. Sunday 14th March Chris and I go to La Plagne to check out the Champany board park. It is 17 degrees centigrade, the snow is lumpy slush, and visibility is poor much of the day due to low clouds. Not the best day of riding but you can't let bad conditions stop you - you must treat it like a job you know!
