Season Diary - Week 8

The Season - Les Arcs & Tignes

Les Arcs Diary - Week 8

Saturday 21st February

I go out boarding in the morning on my own, but meet up with Planet Subzero guys Andrea, Simon, Dave and Steve at lunchtime. Winds are very high and only a few lifts are open, so I take the helmet camera out and film them in the afternoon. The eveing is spent at Trois Stations, a huge underground bar in the village of Peisey down the mountain, celebrating the birthday of Bridie, bar girl at the Mont Blanc. Good fun, except the walk back home!

Friday 20th February

Hungover.

Thursday 19th February

I wake up at 8.50am and am on the lift at 9.05am. Spend the morning riding over to Villaroger and back. Get a full day's boarding in. Plans for a quiet night are wrecked by Troy, who ropes me in to a massive flaming absinthe session.

Wednesday 18th February

The pistes are beginning to deteriorate and are packed as it is French and English half term. Board with Andrea in the afternoon in Vallandry after meeting at the lift. Spend the evening with Troy and Alison watching Wales hammer Scotland 4 - 0 in the Blanc and ribbing Divvy, the Scottish chef.

Tuesday 17th February

Tuesday night is Karaoke night in the Blanc and I make my first appeance on stage for the season, singing Huey Lewis' "The Power of Love" in my usual over the top style to an audience of screaming sixth form girls! Screaming at me to get off I expect! Onto the Marlu for a live band afterwards.

Monday 16th February

Another day off as I have taken every item of clothing I am not wearing to the laundry, and they won't do me an express service in time to go boaring in the afternoon. Warm as it is I don't fancy boarding in jeans and a T-shirt. Word is snow is coming on Wednesday so getting in some rest now isn't a bad idea.

Sunday 15th February

I wake up to find my eye infection has nearly closed my left eye. Good job I wasn't planning to go boarding. This week is English, French and Dutch half term and the slopes are going to be packed. Spend the afternoon watching Arsenal v Chelsea in the Blanc.
